Swift duct, a medical device company established in 2020, develops a solution for Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP)- an endoscopic procedure used to identify presence of stones, tumors, or narrowing in the biliary and pancreatic ducts. The company is developing an innovative navigation solution for easier, faster and safer ERCP which can potentially reduce the occurrence of post ERCP pancreatic inflammation, shorten the duration of the procedure and minimize the need for fluoroscopy. Their system, currently under development, is composed form two elements. The 1st is a catheter with unique bending capabilities which enhances maneuverability in location characterized by challenging anatomy, and the 2nd is a guidewire equipped with sensors allowing the gastroenterologist conducting the procedure to know the location of the catheter and subsequently to reduce trial and error attempts, reduce inflammation and thereby to mitigate substantial healthcare costs and patient suffering.
